The Four Main Finishes

• Matte: Flat, no shine. Hides wall imperfections beautifully. Best for ceilings and low-traffic rooms like bedrooms. Not washable.
• Eggshell: A soft, velvety sheen. Slightly wipeable. Perfect for living rooms and hallways. My most popular finish for London flats.
• Satin: Noticeable shine, very durable. Great for kitchens, bathrooms, and woodwork. Easy to clean.
• Gloss: High shine, extremely hard-wearing. Best for skirting boards, door frames, and radiators. Shows every bump on walls.

What I Recommend for London Homes

For most South London flats and houses, I recommend eggshell on walls and satin on woodwork. It gives a modern, clean look that lasts. In bathrooms and kitchens, satin on walls stands up to steam and splashes.
